Camp Atterbury, Ind., is the home of the NRA National Matches, and will also host the seventh NRA World Shooting Championship in April 2024.

As we prepare to put 2023 in the rearview mirror, here are five great moments from this year’s NRA National High Power Rifle, Precision Pistol and Smallbore Rifle Championships conducted at the 2023 NRA National Matches at Camp Atterbury, Ind., July 8 to August 6. Women Top High Power, Smallbore Rifle Championship Leaderboards At Camp Atterbury

This year at Camp Atterbury, Ind., during the NRA National Matches, three women captured the top titles at their respective championships. Starting with Amanda Elsenboss winning the NRA National High Power Rifle Championship, Kimberly Rowe went on to lead the field at the NRA National High Power Mid-Range Championship, followed by Kristin Yeaton winning the NRA National Smallbore Rifle Three-Position Championship. Cameron Zwart Wins 2023 Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy At Camp Atterbury

Cameron Zwart of Comstock Park, Mich., walked away from the 2023 NRA National Smallbore Rifle Championships at Camp Atterbury with an aggregate score of 13027-677X, which was enough to land him the NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy. The NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy is awarded to the highest scoring shooter in the combined Smallbore Rifle position and prone matches at the NRA National Matches. Additionally, during the NRA National Smallbore Rifle Three-Position Championship, Zwart finished as the runner-up. Read all about Zwart’s big year at Camp Atterbury during the National Matches.


Jon Shue Captures 2023 NRA National Precision Pistol Title

Once again, the winner of the NRA National Precision Pistol Championship title at Camp Atterbury was Jon Shue. A resident of Liberty, N.C., Shue walked away from the 2023 NRA Precision Pistol Nationals with a score of 2662-135X. His score also netted him the High Civilian and High Military Veteran awards. Notably, his score was 25 points ahead of the nearest NRA Precision Pistol competitor at the National Matches. In addition, Shue’s victory at Camp Atterbury arrived not long after his big win at the 2023 CMP Pistol Championship held at Camp Perry, Ohio, in July. Oliver Milanovic Wins 2023 NRA National High Power Rifle Long-Range Championship

Oliver Milanovic of Gilbert, Ariz., topped the 2023 NRA National High Power Rifle Long-Range Championship leaderboard after posting a score of 1242-66X—one point ahead of the match runner-up, Phillip R. Crowe of Cullman, Ala. For his victory, Milanovic received a Tompkins Trophy plaque, along with a gold-tone NRA National Championship medallion, a $440 Krieger Barrel Gift Certificate and three boxes of bullets from Berger Bullets. Milanovic’s winning score also netted him the High Palma award. In addition, Milanovic previously won the same title in 2021. Read the match report.


Kristin Yeaton Captures 2023 NRA National Smallbore Three-Position Championship Title

Kristin Yeaton of Augusta, Maine, is this year’s NRA National Smallbore Rifle Three-Position Champion after firing a score of 4418-139X. Yeaton was competing at Camp Atterbury this summer with an Anschutz 1903 rifle and Lapua Center-X .22 Long Rifle ammunition. She has been attending the NRA Smallbore Nationals in Indiana since 2021. “This is my third year at Camp Atterbury,” Yeaton said. “The camaraderie between everybody at the NRA National Matches is fantastic. You have shooters from all over the country competing against each other, yet still willing to help each other out and keep progressing the program.
