All current USA College Clay Target League-registered student-athletes and teams are invited to compete at the 2024 Trapshooting National Championship in November. All teams must have a minimum of five student-athletes to participate in the team competition. However, all student-athletes are eligible for the individual matches.

At the 2024 USA College Clay Target League Trapshooting National Championship, collegiate athletes and teams that participate in the USA College Clay Target League’s fall season will be eligible for the event, which is slated to begin on Friday, November 1, and end with the crowning of team and individual national college champions on Sunday, November 3.

Student-athletes will compete in two classifications (gold and silver classes) based on their fall season-ending average. Teams will use their top five athlete scores regardless of their designated classification for the team competition. A student-athlete’s cumulative 200-target score will be utlized for both individual and team competitions.

“The League thrilled to be able to host our first in-person National College Championship,” John Nelson, the president of the USA Clay Target League said. “The League’s college program has been tremendously successful, with more than 75 colleges and universities having been approved to participate since it began in 2019.”

More about the host venue: Built in 1999 by Larry and Carole Mohr, Brittany Shooting Park is located about one hour north of St. Louis and is one of the top trapshooting facilities in the state. Today, Brittany Shooting Park features 25 trap fields, a large modern clubhouse, ample camping space and plenty of other shooting sports opportunities. The range is also the host venue for the Illinois High School Clay Target League State Tournament, held each June.

Collegiate and university involvement in the USA Clay Target League has steadily grown. Last year, the number of college league teams increased by 52 percent, and student-athletes participating in league activities went up 32 percent.

“An in-person championship event has been a desire of League coaches from the beginning, and we’re very excited to bring it to fruition at Brittany Shooting Park,” Nelson added.

Registration for the 2024 USA Clay Target League Trapshooting Championship will open on September 18, 2024. The registration fee is $100. In addition, the fall season registration will begin on August 1.
