The first Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll of 2017 was released earlier this week. The rankings are the first of the year using the NCAA Team Qualifier System. In this system, an average is derived using a team’s top three scores from three different ranges.

Texas Christian University (TCU) remains at No. 1 with an average of 4724.67. TCU finished the fall season with a perfect 9-0 record. Surpassing a score of 4700 in all but one match this year, the Horned Frogs have fired eight of the top 10 marks in school history.

Defending champion West Virginia University (WVU) moved up one spot to No. 2 with an average of 4719.67. Murray State dropped to No. 3 with a 4717.0 average. Air Force, with a 4694.67 average moved up to No. 4, and Kentucky ranks No. 5 with a 4693.67 average.

Ohio State stays at No. 6 with a 4676.67 average. Alaska-Fairbanks stays at No. 7 with a 4673.33 average. Nebraska follows at No. 8 (4667.33 avg.), moving up one sport. Nevada (4665.0 avg.) and Memphis (4663.67 avg.) round out the top 10.
