At SHOT Show 2025 in Las Vegas, Nev., last week Smith & Wesson announced the release of its new M&P9 Metal HD Spec Series V, which is the newest addition to the company’s Spec Series lineup.
The fifth iteration of Smith & Wesson’s Spec Series family, the M&P9 Metal HD Spec Series V is a first of its kind that’s built with superior performance in mind.
A striker-fired pistol chambered in 9 mm Luger, the M&P9 Metal HD Spec Series V boasts a 23-round capacity and sports a newly designed aluminum trigger, which Smith & Wesson said is to “facilitate more consistent and accurate shooting.”
Weighing in at 2.31 pounds (sans magazine), the M&P9 Metal HD features steel-frame construction with enhanced texturing, a steel magazine well, plus a steel optics plate that increase overall weight and helps to reduce felt recoil. Additionally, the 4.8-inch threaded barrel, controls and magazine well all display a sharp blue PVD finish. Finally, there is a Strike Industries compensator to mitigate muzzle rise.
The M&P9 Metal HD Spec Series V ships with tall C.O.R.E. green night sights out of the box, along with an optics-ready slide for mounting a red-dot optic. In addition, the handgun ships with three 23-round magazines, hard carry case and a Limited-Edition Spec Series coin and knife.
MSRP is $1,699. Go to smith-wesson.com to learn more about the M&P9 Metal HD Spec Series V.
