Savage Arms is adding to its Stance family of pistols with the introduction of the Stance XR chambered in 9 mm Luger.
The Stance XR micro pistol from Savage Arms boasts many of the same features and functions of the original Stance, but expands the capacity to 13+1 rounds, as well as adding a quick-release optics (QRO) plate. Regarding the latter, it allows shooters to rapidly swap optics.
More features of the new Stance XR include an ambidextrous magazine release and slide catch, along with a 360-degree grip thanks to stippling texture and finger indexing. There are also two interchangeable backstraps.
A takedown lever allows for simple disassembly, with no trigger pull or tool necessary.
The 3.2-inch stainless steel barrel sits inside a steel slide with a beveled front. Ported slide serrations provide for an enhanced grip.
As for the trigger, it sports a wide, rounded face and has a short reset.
Savage Arms describes the sights as “snag-free” and “functional.” Night sight models are also available.
To change the Stance backstrap, engage the safety into the safe position (if your Stance is equipped with a manual safety), then press the magazine release to remove the magazine. Next, pull the slide rearward and ensure the chamber is clear, then allow the slide to move forward. With a small punch, push out the roll pin located near the base of the grip (don’t lose the roll pin). Then slide the backstrap off the grip frame, slide on your preferred backstrap and replace the pin.
Two magazines are included with purchase of the Savage Arms Stance XR—one 13-round extended magazine and a 10-round flush magazine—along with a hard case.
The Stance XR micro pistol is available in Black, Flat Dark Earth and Gray models, with or without a manual safety, as well as the aforementioned night sight versions. Models are also available with a Crimson Trace CTS-1500 red-dot optic.
MSRP ranges from $469 to $659, depending on the model.
