U.S. Army Capt. Sarah Beard won the NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy on Sunday, August 4, capping a solid performance at the 2024 NRA National Smallbore Rifle Championships at Camp Atterbury. Additionally, Beard secured the NRA National Smallbore Three-Position Championship title.
This year’s NRA Smallbore Nationals, part of the NRA National Matches, were held at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, from Saturday, July 27, to Sunday, August 4. The Smallbore Prone Championship was held July 28 to August 1, with the Smallbore Three-Position Championship on August 2-4.
The NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy is awarded to aggregate winner of the combined Smallbore Rifle Position and Prone championships each year at the NRA National Matches.
Beard, age 33 and from Colorado Springs, Colorado, walked away from the 2024 NRA Smallbore Nationals at Camp Atterbury with an aggregate score of 8788-735X. Plus, she earned the Smallbore Three-Position Championship title with a score of 2397-205X.
Beard’s score was 17 points ahead of the next highest scoring shooter on the 2024 NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy aggregate leaderboard.
Finishing as the runner-up in the 2024 NRA National Smallbore Rifle Championship Lones Wigger Iron Man aggregate was Megan Hilbish of Emporia, Kansas, with a score of 8761-606X.
Rounding out the top three in the 2024 NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy aggregate was last year’s winner, Cameron Zwart of Comstock Park, Michigan, with a score of 8692-549X.
There were 63 total entries in the NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy aggregate championship at Camp Atterbury this year.
