This competition was the second qualifier for Arizona athletes to earn an invite to the Arizona National Sectional Match in January 2025. The first qualifier was held in September.

Chris Firesberg of Deer Valley H.S. AFJROTC team one picked up the individual title with a final score of 603-14X.

 

Forty competitors—16 of them women—representing the AFJROTC, MCJROTC and NJROTC programs attended the event on nine teams, along with four individual competitors. Teams at the competition included Cienega NJROTC (Vail, Arizona), Deer Valley AFJROTC (Glendale, Arizona), Fontana MCJROTC (Fontana, California), Sandra Day O’Connor AFJROTC (Phoenix, Arizona) and Tolleson MCJROTC (Tolleson, Arizona).

Chris Firesberg from Deer Valley H.S. AFJROTC team one was the top individual shooter, posting scores of 520-14X in qualification and 603-14X in the final. Fontana H.S. MCJROTC team one’s Stephanie Mendoza was runner-up with 528-12X in qualification and a final score of 602-12X. In third was Eliezer Moreno, also of Fontana H.S. MCJROTC team one, with a 514-11X qualification score and 595-11X in the final.

In the team match, Cienega H.S. MCJROTC team one claimed first place with a score of 2109-39X. Fontana H.S. MCJROTC team one captured second place with 2069-36X, and Cienega H.S. NJROTC team two was third with 1998-22X.

After both state championship qualifiers, the following teams received invitations to the Arizona National Sectionals to be held January 10, 2025: Fontana H.S. MCJROTC team one (S. Mendoza, J. Campos, E. Moreno, A. Castro) and team two (M. Corea, A. Porras, D. Santiago, A. Posada), Kofa H.S. MCJROTC team one (D. Mendez, J. Escarlera, M. Hernandez, K. Borel), Cienega H.S. MCJROTC team one (J. Hays, B. Fletcher, E. Johnson, H. Edmondson) and team two (M. Mallett, R. Ottersbach, K. Johnson, G. Caccavale) and Deer Valley HS AFJROTC team one (C. Friesberg, Z. Thompson-Atkinson, L. Mitchell, M. Moya). Additionally, individual competitors invited were N. Paradise (Cienega MCJROTC), I. Segura (Fontana MCJROTC), I. Velazquez (Fontana MCJROTC), A. Fritz (Kofa MCJROTC), A. Allred (Sandra Day O’Connor AFJROTC), L. Leonard (Sandra Day O’Connor AFJROTC), T. Izzo (Tombstone USAJROTC) and C. Callisto (Tombstone USAJROTC).
