The 19th annual ATA U.S. Open will be held at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Illinois, from May 29 to June 2. There is still time for competitors to pre-squad for this Amateur Trapshooting Association tournament, but if you are interested, be sure to act fast, because the pre-squadding period will only remain open until Sunday, May 21, with plans to close the pre-squadding process at 6:00 p.m. CDST that evening.
The World Shooting and Recreational Complex is well known as the host venue for the biggest event that the ATA conducts each year, the Grand American World Trapshooting Championships.
About the 2024 U.S. Open, Amateur Trapshooting Association President Billy Cook said, “This tournament serves as a thrilling precursor to our grandest affair, the Grand American. Many awards are up for grabs and All-American points to be collected.”
The tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 29, as a preliminary day. Practice that day will start at 9:00 a.m., and the match program will begin one hour after that.
There will be 13 events at the 2024 ATA U.S. Open tournament, along with the U.S. Open High-All-Around Championship and the High-Over-All Championship, the latter comprised of the combined results of events four through 10, plus events 12 and 13.
Amateur Trapshooting Association rules will govern the 2024 U.S. Open, and ATA staff will be managing the event.
Something else to note: the final 1,300 targets at the 2024 ATA U.S. Open (all events with the exception of event one) will be eligible for All-American point determinations.
In order to pre-squad, you will be required to furnish your ATA number, along with those of the shooters that you wish to squad with. You can pre-squad now for the 2024 ATA U.S. Open at this link: presquad.shootata.com.
