Team USA Paralympic shooter YanXiao Gong walked away from the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 final at the Chateauroux Shooting Center during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in eighth place on Wednesday, September 4. Earlier this week, Gong earned a silver medal in the P3 mixed 25m pistol SH1 event.
Gong’s final score in the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 final was 96.9. He advanced to the final in seventh place after exiting qualification with a score of 534.
He had two shots that hurt his score in Stage 1 during the final, a 5.8 and and 3.9. Despite this setback, in Stage 2, Gong fired a pair of fine shots, a 9.8 and 9.2, although it was not enough to keep him from elimination.
Chao Yang of China claimed gold in the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 final with a Paralympic record score of 220.1 points. He was followed by Server Ibragimov of Uzbekistan with 215.3 points for the silver medal and Davide Franceschetti of Italy with 199.7 points for bronze.
There were 29 total shooters competing in the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 event.
In addition, U.S. Paralympic shooter McKenna Geer earned 13th place in the R9 mixed 50m rifle prone SH2 qualification with a score of 619.9 on Wednesday, September 4. With only the top eight shooters earning spots out of the 25 total competing in the event, Geer will not advance to the R9 mixed 50m rifle prone SH2 final.
This wraps up the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games events for both Gong and Geer.
