Paris 2024 Olympics: After Day One, USA Shooting Still On Medal Hunt

U.S. shooting athletes missed out on two possible Paris 2024 Olympic medals on Saturday but have a solid chance at picking up hardware after today’s Men’s and Women’s 10m Air Rifle qualification matches.

USA Shooting athletes competed in the Mixed Team 10m Air Rifle and Women’s 10m Air Pistol events at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Saturday, July 27.

During yesterday’s Mixed Team 10m Air Rifle qualification, U.S. shooters Mary Tucker and Rylan Kissell finished in 13th place with a score of 626.0. Fellow Team USA shooters Sagen Maddalena and Ivan Roe walked away from the Mixed Team 10m Air Rifle qualification round with a score of 624.9, ranking them 18th on the leaderboard.

As for Women’s 10m Air Pistol qualification, USA Shooting’s Katelyn Abeln and Alexis Lagan both earned scores of 570, ranking them back to back in 24th and 25th places, respectively.

Up next for Team USA at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in shooting today are Men’s 10m Air Rifle and Women’s 10m Air Rifle, with finals for both scheduled for tomorrow at 9:30 a.m for the men and 12:00 p.m. for the women (Paris time). USA Shooting’s Ivan Roe, Rylan Kissell, Mary Tucker and Sagen Maddalena will be competing in the two events.

Regarding the medalists in yesterday’s Paris 2024 Olympic shooting events, Chinese shooters Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao landed the Mixed Team 10m Air Rifle gold medal—the first gold of the Paris 2024 Olympics overall—after a 16-12 victory over Korean shooters Keum Jihyeon and Park Hajun.
