SK Customs’ latest creation in its Gods of Olympus engraver series is the Athena, a Smith & Wesson full-size 1911 chambered in .45 ACP. Limited to a production run of only 200 pistols, the new Athena 1911 marks the fourth entry in the company’s Gods of Olympus series.
Using a highly reflective conversion technique for the Athena, SK Customs brings to life a fiery tone exposed from the steel and uses 24K gold to highlight the attributes of this Greek goddess.
Regarding the features, there are serrations that are deeply etched with Athena’s spear entwined with a snake. Additionally, the slide flats symbolize Athena’s dominance with war, her connection with owls and shield with Medusa’s head to enforce her power of victory.
As for the grips, they feature the Greek Key border, illustrating Athena and her owls taking flight, along with Athena at Mount Olympus. A functional, emerald set front sight completes the package.
Each collector of the Athena 1911 .45 ACP will receive a commemorative silver coin that features the mark of the Bank of Greece in Athens and the year of production. The coin also reveals a profile of the goddess Athena in battle with her symbols. Plus, each coin comes in a protective case set inside a black velvet coin box, which is labeled in silver with the “Gods of Olympus-Athena” logo.
“Athena was a member of the 12 Olympians, and was a Greek goddess of wisdom, war and reason,” Simon Khiabani, owner and founder of SK Customs said. “We have had a lot of interest in the other three firearms we offered in the Gods of Olympus series (Ares, Poseidon and Zeus), so it’s only fitting that we continue to provide 1911 collectors and enthusiasts with Athena as part of the set.”
Price for the SK Customs Gods of Olympus-Athena 1911 chambered in .45 ACP is $2,800 and it will begin shipping in September 2024.
