The new Beretta 92X Performance Carry Optic is a competition-oriented version of the venerable double-action Model 92. This latest addition to the 92X Performance family comes with an optics-ready slide and optic mounting plates.
Legal for USPSA’s Carry Optics division, the Beretta 92X Performance Carry Optic pistol is also a solid option for the Production and Limited Minor divisions, minus the red-dot sight, and by using the correct size magazines as stated in the rules.
The Beretta 92X Performance was built with many features competitive shooters will appreciate. To begin, it sports a pair of front and rear sights ideal for match use. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation and also has serrations to cut down on glare. A generous notch will help with target acquisition. As for the front sight, it has a fiber-optic insert that also aids in rapid sight acquisition. The 92X Performance Carry Optic also includes a DLC-coated Xtreme-S match trigger, which the company says is “lighter and smoother than on a standard model.”
Unlike most Beretta Model 92s, the 92X Performance Carry Optic pistol also has ambidextrous, frame-mounted thumb safeties, similar to 1911 safeties and can be carried cocked and locked. Additionally, unlike most Model 92 pistols, the 92X Performance Carry Optic has an all-steel frame and slide construction.
The 92X Performance Carry Optic weighs approximate one pound more than a normal Beretta. The additional weight will help shooters absorb any extra recoil while transitioning between targets. In addition, the 92X Performance also has a Vertec steel frame with an overall slimmer grip.
MSRP for the Beretta 92X Performance Carry Optic pistol is $1,799. Versions with 10- and 15-round magazines are available. Learn more at the Beretta USA website at beretta.com.
