After a year off, the NRA Smallbore Nationals came back this summer at a new home, Camp Atterbury, an Indiana National Guard base and active training facility. Before the year's biggest smallbore rifle event was fired after its one-year break because of COVID-19, it came with plenty of big questions. Will the new range be complete in time? Will the conditions play a factor? Will the NRA be ready for competitors?
The answer to all of these questions is a resounding yes. The NRA, with help from friends at the Indiana State Rifle and Pistol Association, the Indiana National Guard and the State of Indiana, has established a new marksmanship destination at Camp Atterbury, beginning with the brand new 100-yard covered range for precision pistol and smallbore rifle competition. This comfortable, modern range, in conjunction with the existing high power rifle ranges at Camp Atterbury, will be the new home of the NRA National Matches for years to come. The 2021 NRA National Matches will continue on Tuesday, July 20, with the start of the Precision Pistol National Championships. Next on Thursday, July 22, the F-Class Mid-Range National Championships begin. See the full 2021 NRA National Matches schedule here.
