The Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference concluded its 2024-2025 season on March 2 after two days of competition at this year’s Conference Championship tournament, hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Also known as the MAC, the Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference is a collegiate-level conference that includes the five current NCAA Division III rifle programs, plus four high-level collegiate club rifle programs.

Saturday, March 1, marked the first day of the championship as competitors took to the firing line for the smallbore match. Six programs competed for a team title: Mount Aloysius College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), S.U.N.Y. Plattsburgh, the University of Rhode Island, Norwich University and John Jay College.
Topping the smallbore team leaderboard was Mount Aloysius College (2233) in its inaugural season as an NCAA Division III program, followed by the University of Rhode Island (2203) and Norwich University (2176). Additionally, five student-athletes representing S.U.N.Y. Maritime, Schreiner University and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy joined the competition for an individual title. Winning the individual match was Kayla Trinkle of Mount Aloysius College with a score of 569. Taking second place was University of Rhode Island’s Sophia Wood with a score of 561. MIT freshman Eleanor Yang earned third place, also firing a 561 but falling to Wood by just two Xs in the tiebreaker.
Air rifle was contested the following day with six teams and 35 individuals. Mount Aloysius College, MIT, University of Rhode Island, Norwich University and John Jay College again fired for the team title, joined by Schreiner University. Ultimately, Mount Aloysius proved victorious with a score of 2324, followed by MIT (2262) and the University of Rhode Island (2242). For the individual podium, Mount Aloysius College’s Molly Miller posted a score of 593 to earn the title. She was followed closely by teammate Kayla Trinkle with 587. Yang once again took third with a score of 582.

Five teams and 20 individual shooters were also competing for the two-gun aggregate awards. Mount Aloysius College swept both the team and individual titles, with a team aggregate of 4557 and Trinkle’s individual aggregate score of 1156. The University of Rhode Island earned second place with 4445, with MIT only nine points behind with 4436. Individually, Miller won second place (1143-58X), followed by Yang (1143-41X).
