Team Winchester shooters dominate field of 590 shooters at the 2024 NSCA Western Regional in Phoenix, Ariz., March 4-10.

Team Winchester’s Anthony Matarese was High Overall in the Main Event and runner-up in FITASC at the 2024 NSCA Western Regional in Phoenix, Ariz., March 4-10.

Team Winchester was in full force at the 2024 NSCA Western Regional at Ben Avery Clay Target Center in Phoenix, Arizona, March 4-10, taking five of the top six scores in the Main Event leaderboard.

Starting with Team Winchester’s Anthony Matarese, he secured the top score overall in the Main Event with a score of 193 out of 200 possible points. In addition, fellow Team Winchester members Zach Kienbaum and Theo Ribbs finished in second and third places, with scores of 186 and 184.

For his Main Event High Over All victory, Matarese earned a $3,500 payout. In total, Matarese earned $8,736 at the 2024 NSCA Western Regional.

The 2024 NSCA Western Regional is the first stop on this year’s National Sporting Clays Association Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester. Held at Pinnacle Shooting Sports, Ben Avery in Phoenix, Arizona, this venue is a world-class shooting range with a five-star rating from the National Association of Shooting Ranges.

There was a total of 483 shooters in the 2024 NSCA Western Regional’s Main Event.

At the 2024 NSCA Western Regional, the trio of Matarese, Kienbaum and Ribbs all shot Winchester’s AA Super Handicap, 1⅛-ounce, 1,250 f.p.s. target load in the Main Event, which is a very popular round with competitive sport shooters.

Team Winchester placements at the 2024 NSCA Western Regional included the following.

  • Anthony Matarese: Main Event – HOA, FITASC – runner-up
  • Zach Kienbaum: Main Event – runner-up, Super Sporting – third, Prelim – runner-up
  • Theo Ribbs: Main Event – third 
  • Mike Wilgus: Main Event – Veteran HOA, FITASC – Veteran HOA, Prelim – Veteran HOA, Super Sporting – Veteran HOA, Five-Stand – Veteran runner-up
  • Desi Edmunds: Main Event – Lady HOA, FITASC – Lady third
  • Connor Daniels: Main Event – Junior Champion, FITASC – Junior runner-up, Super Sporting – Junior runner-up, Five-Stand – Junior third
  • Kayla Wilgus: Super Sporting – Lady third

The 2024 NSCA Western Regional was also one of the stops for the year-long Winchester Ladies Cup. Below are the placements.

  • Champion: Karen Miles
  • Runner-Up: Desi Edmunds
  • Third Place: Grace Choe

The Southeast Regional is the next stop and the second of eight total shoots on the 2024 NSCA Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester, and will take place April 10-14. The season finale will take place in San Antonio, Texas, at the National Shooting Complex in October. At the season finale, a new National Champion and Winchester Ladies Cup Champion will be crowned.
