Baschieri & Pellagri USA Pro Staff member Macie Page clinched the Ladies High Over All title at the 2024 Bluebonnet Open held at the Austin Gun Club in Austin, Texas, March 29-31.
The Bluebonnet Open was a United States Helice Association sanctioned match.
Page walked away from the Saturday 30-bird race with 22 hits, and she finished Sunday’s 30-bird race at the 2024 Bluebonnet Open competition with 25 hits.
More information about Helice competition: “At first glance, helice (French for propeller) is similar to standard clay pigeon shooting, but the main difference is the helice target is made of two different plastic pieces, providing erratic flight and a challenging game. Whether expertly pitched by hand or mechanically catapulted, nothing, it seems, is more difficult to quickly and repetitively drop with a well-timed shotshell than the otherwise inglorious pigeon. As the orchestrated shooting of feral pigeons faded and retreated to private estates, helice ‘trap’ machines and ‘ZZ-bird’ targets (the latter originally cut from sheets of zinc alloys) were well underway in Europe and specifically France, the game’s nation of origin. And it is very much the 50 years of refinement to those game pieces that is nothing short of engineering at the aerospace level.”
“We are thrilled by the exceptional performance of Macie,” Baschieri & Pellagri USA’s Marketing Manager Holly Hammond said. “Her strong start to the season is truly commendable. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to her for an impressive weekend in a fiercely competitive field. We look forward to watching her compete to defend her three-time National Helice Title in May.”
