Kim Rhode Wins Women's Skeet Gold At ISSF World Cup Changwon

Six-time Olympic medalist and NRA Board Member Kim Rhode is on fire this year on the international shotgun circuit. Her latest accomplishment: Winning the Women's Skeet title at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Changwon, South Korea. Earlier this year, Rhode won ISSF World Cup gold medals at Al Ain and Acapulco. This gold medal-performance is the fourth in a row for her. Rhode is the first shotgun competitor (male or female) to ever accomplish such a feat.

Incredibly enough, this win also marks Rhode's 21st career World Cup medal.

In Changwon, Rhode qualified with 122 out of 125 targets, which was not the high score going into the final. Instead, that honor went to Italian shooter Diana Bacosi, who after shooting 123 targets equaled the current qualification world record.

Not to be deterred, Rhode built momentum by landing two 25s during the second section of qualification. Keeping up the pace in the final, she was solid for an impressive 57 out of 60 targets, securing the gold medal ahead of silver medalist Bacosi, who hit 54 targets. Taking the bronze medal was Chiara Cainero (Italy), who had 44 hits in the final.

The U.S. is still in the hunt for three Olympic quotas for Tokyo 2020, with one qualification spot still available in Women's Trap, as well as two in Men's Trap. The Men’s and Women’s Skeet quotas  have been filled. Two Olympic quotas went to Italy.
