Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center is joining forces with Springfield Armory to host the inaugural USPSA Collegiate Championship at the center’s Ailes Action Shooting Range in Hillsdale, Mich., September 28-29.
The USPSA Collegiate Championship will serve as an introduction for collegiate shooters to USPSA-style competition. All collegiate-level shooters are invited to compete in two divisions: limited and open. A 12-stage USPSA Level 1 match, the competition will conclude with an awards ceremony to honor the top shooters.
Awards will be given to first, second and third places in the following categories and divisions:
- Teams Limited
- Teams Open
- Men’s Individual Limited
- Women’s Individual Limited
- Men’s Individual Open
- Women’s Individual Open
Something to note: Each team’s score will be combined from the top four individual shooters on each team.
Springfield Armory has been a top supporter of the Hillsdale College Action Shooting Team since 2019. The company’s ongoing support includes supplying pistols and equipment, along with providing access to top-tier pro shooters, including trigger time with Rob Leatham, a 34-time national and eight-time international pistol-shooting champion.

The team earned its second consecutive national championship at the Scholastic Action Shooting Program’s College Nationals in 2023. Led by Head Coach Adam Burlew, the Action Shooting Team is sponsored by Springfield Armory. Together, the team aims to promote fundamental safety and top marksmanship in the realm of pistol shooting.”
Springfield Armory’s generous contributions have aided the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team in becoming a top contender in recent years, and with its support of this new USPSA competition, the company is helping to grow competitive shooting at the collegiate level.

In recent years, Hillsdale College has become a hub of the shooting sports. In addition to housing the Hillsdale College shotgun and action shooting teams, both of which have secured multiple national collegiate championships, the John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center been the official home of the U.S. National Shotgun Team since 2019, thanks to a fruitful partnership with USA Shooting.
