Dixie Double Air Gun Event Moves to New Date in November

The eighth Annual Dixie Double Air Rifle and Pistol Competition will be November 4-6, at the newly renovated Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) South Competition Center in Anniston, AL. Hosting some of the best competitive shooters from around the nation, the Dixie Double serves as a learning opportunity for upcoming shootersas well as a worthwhile challenge for experienced competitors.

The match, open to men, women and juniors, is a two day event where participants fire 60 record standing shots each day, along with a final. A two-man aggregate team event is also held concurrently with the open shooting competition. Overall competitors are awarded each individual day as well as from the combined, two day aggregate scores.

Unique to the Dixie Double is the Target Sprint competitionopen to all competitors and non-competitors, ages 10 and up, who have completed a basic rifle safety class. During the event, participants run along a path, occasionally stopping to fire air rifles at five 10-meter falling targets, knocking all over before continuing on. The first to cross the finish line wins.

Paralympic competitors are welcome to compete during the event.

The renovated South Range is located within the CMP South Competition Centernow home to the CMP Store and 80 10-meter air gun firing points. Each point is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic targets, which allow instant shot displays to both competitors and spectators.
