One of the 1911’s biggest champions, Springfield Armory has been refining the 1911 handgun platform for decades. Last year, the company expanded its top-tier 1911 TRP (Tactical Response Pistol) lineup with six new models, all chambered in .45 ACP. With five-inch and 4¼-inch sizes available, the new TRPs offer something for every 1911 fan, including a slick Commander-sized Contour Carry model with a bobtail cut on the grip. Don’t miss my review of Springfield Armory’s refreshed 1911 TRP lineup of handguns in Product Focus.
Wojtek’s Race Pistol is a full-size .22-caliber handgun assembled for steel shooting. Pairing a six-inch Volquartsen Mamba-X LLV optics-ready competition upper with a Tandemkross 22/45 Cthulhu lower, this powerhouse racing pistol is built to top Steel Challenge Rimfire Pistol Open division leaderboards. Wojtek is passionate about rimfire firearms—author P.E. Fitch said it’s best to think of the company as one that “curates their customers’ rimfire experience by mixing and matching parts and components.” Read his review of the Wojtek Race Pistol.
More of a redesign than an upgrade, C-More’s new RTS3 reflex sight sports a big sight window that measures nearly 1.2 inches in width, along with three available dot sizes and plenty of user-friendly features. Field Editor Chris Christian learned all about the C-More RTS3 after putting it through its paces at a Steel Challenge match, even earning a surprise second place finish in Rimfire Rifle Open division.
For the six members of the U.S. National Rifle Team who traveled to Guyana last year for the 2024 West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championship, the trip was unlike anything they had ever experienced before, with the shared camaraderie of the shooting sports sparking new friendships. Even better, the U.S. National Rifle Team secured the top individual titles and the International Team Match victory. Not too shabby, considering this was the first time the U.S. has ever competed there. Learn more about the match.
