Hillsdale College’s John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center in Hillsdale, Michigan, will host the seventh annual Charger Classic NSCA Tournament in conjunction with the National Sporting Clays Association. The competition is scheduled for Saturday, August 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
A two-course tournament, the 2022 Charger Classic at Hillsdale College will feature a 100-target Sporting Clays set by Gary Cook, along with a 100-target Super Sporting set by Jordan Hintz. In addition, there is a 50-target Five-Stand course.
Two-hundred free targets will go to the High Overall and First-in-Class shooters on the Glassen Foundation Sporting Clays Course.
As for registration fees, adults pay $64 for the first round and $54 per round afterwards. Youth shooters receive a $20 discount for the first round at $44, and it’s $34 per round after that. Golf carts are also available for rental for $35. Additionally, there is a limited supply of Winchester AA International 24-gram #7.5 shotshells that can be purchased for $120 per case.
The AcuSport Grill will be open for lunch during the 2022 Charger Classic at the Halter Shooting Sports Center. And for anyone planning to stay at Hillsdale College for the competition, there are campsites available for $38 per night.
Over the past few years, Hillsdale College has increased its capacity to host large competitive shooting events. In addition to its 22-station sporting clays course, the Halter Center has seven American trap fields, and built five combination international skeet and Olympic bunker fields with digital scoreboards to serve as home for the USA Shooting National Team. There’s also a small arms range, standalone Olympic bunker field, outdoor archery range and a lodge.
