The inaugural Florida Shooters Cup will be held at the Apex Shooting Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from January 11-12, 2025. This new pistol tournament will distribute a total of $50,000 in cash and prizes to competitors.
Apex Shooting Center is a state-of-the-art, NRA-affiliated indoor range with 28 lanes, along with a private club.
Limited to 500 shooters who are Florida residents, the 2025 Florida Shooters Cup will feature four divisions: Amateur, Professional, Law Enforcement and Teams.
The winner in Professional division will receive a prize package worth $12,000, including $5,000 in cash, a one-year membership in Apex’s Founders Shooting Club, a Safariland holster and other merchandise. In addition, the top Amateur shooter will receive a similar prize package with $5,000 in cash.
Besides the substantial prize purse, division winners at the match will have their name engraved on the new match trophy, which will be on display at the Apex Shooting Center.
Shooters at the match will compete in four stages: “Stage 1: Welcome to the Apex,” “Stage 2: Founders Shoot Bulls,” “Stage 3: I Should Have Played Squash” and “Stage 4: Cigars and Whiskey After This.”
More about the inaugural Florida Shooters Cup’s stages: “Four different stages will use Apex’s advanced target system to test handgun fundamentals such as distance accuracy, timed draw and shoot, engaging moving targets and on-the-clock reloads.”
Here’s an example of what competitors will face at the match from Stage 2, which includes one paper target with six bullseye B-8-style targets. “The target will move to 15 yards and then turn towards the shooter. Once the target is facing the shooter, the shooter may draw the firearm and begin engaging. The shooter must put exactly two rounds on five different bullseye targets. The time limit is 18 seconds, then the targets will turn away to complete the stage.”
Scoring at the 2025 Florida Shooters Cup will be total points and Xs earned through bullseye scoring zones, minus penalties. Individual stages will be Virginia Count. The first three stages are worth 100 points each (10 rounds), with the fourth stage worth 200 points (20 rounds).
USPSA Grand Master Luigi Li is slated to be the match director. Generally, the match will adhere to general competition guidelines found in the current USPSA rulebook. All guns, ammunition and equipment must comply with either USPSA Carry Optics or USPSA Production division rules. In addition, competitors are advised to have a belt holster and three magazines.
Match entry fees are $50 for the Amateur and Law Enforcement divisions, $75 for the Professional division and $100 for Teams.
The registration fee includes a gift bag, t-shirt, targets, match credentials and an invitation to the VIP after party at the Apex Shooting Center’s Founders Shooting Club.
