
The 2025 NRA National Rifle and Pistol Championships will be held at clubs across the country this summer. For the first time in history, Ohio’s Cardinal Shooting Center will host the NRA Pistol and Smallbore Nationals, while the High Power Nationals will travel to three different venues: Across the Course at Winnequah Gun Club in Wisconsin, High Power Mid-Range at Oklahoma City Gun Club in Oklahoma and High Power Long-Range at the Alliance Rifle Club in Ohio.

PRECISION PISTOL
The NRA National Precision Pistol Championships will take place at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, July 6-10, 2025.
An aggregate of each competitor’s total score fired in the .22 Caliber, Centerfire and .45 Caliber matches, the winner of the NRA National Precision Pistol Championship (Match 100) will receive a Harrison Trophy plaque.

Opening ceremonies will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, followed by the preliminary matches and the Harry Reeves Memorial Revolver Match. Next, on Monday, July 7, there will be the .22 Rimfire Championship and matches. On Tuesday, July 8, the Centerfire Championship is scheduled, along with the NRA Distinguished Revolver competition. That evening is also slated for the competitors’ meeting. As for Wednesday, July 9, you can look forward to the .45 Caliber Championship, as well as the Service Pistol EIC match. The awards ceremony will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday as well. Additionally, there will be a dinner at 6:00 p.m. every evening during the competition.
As for competition staff, Steve Yuszka will be the match director for the 2025 NRA National Precision Pistol Championships, with Brian Newsome handling range engineer duties. Also, Tony Silva has taken on the role of statistical director.
SMALLBORE RIFLE
The NRA National Smallbore Championships will be conducted at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, July 20-29, 2025.

This year’s NRA National Smallbore Rifle Conventional Prone Championship is organized into four days of matches with daily aggregates, the metallic-sight aggregate, the any-sight aggregate and the combined grand aggregate. Awards will be distributed for Conventional Prone, Three-Position and F-Class. The categories include (dependent on the number of entries) Civilian, Women, Senior, Junior, Intermediate Junior, Sub-Junior, Veteran, Service, Intermediate Senior and Collegiate.
Packet pick-up and practice for Smallbore Prone and F-Class will kick off the Smallbore Nationals on Sunday, July 20. Conventional Prone competition (metallic sights) and the F-Class 6400 are both scheduled for the following day until Tuesday, July 22. Team day will be on Wednesday, July 23, with the Dewar, Randle, Conventional Prone and F-Class Team matches. On Thursday, July 24, the Conventional Prone (any sights) competition will commence, along with the competitors’ meeting one hour after firing is completed. Friday, July 25, will be highlighted by the awards ceremony, where the winner of the 2025 NRA Smallbore Conventional Prone Championship will be crowned, also receiving a Critchfield Trophy plaque.

The Three-Position Championship begins on Saturday, July 26, with packet pickup and practice. On Sunday, July 27, the Conventional Three-Position (metallic sights) match will start. Team day is on Monday, July 28, with the Conventional Three-Position Team Match, plus a competitors’ meeting in the afternoon. The following day will include the Conventional Three-Position (any sights) competition and the awards ceremony.
For competitors participating in both the Conventional Prone and Conventional Three-Position Championships, there is the prestigious Lones Wigger Iron Man award, which is presented to the shooter firing the highest aggregate score in the NRA National Smallbore Championships. Previous Iron Man winners are listed below. (Note that the total possible score has fluctuated over the years.)

NRA LONES WIGGER IRON MAN AWARD WINNERS

This year’s Smallbore Championship match staff features a veritable who’s who of the sport. For starters, two NRA Directors and longtime championship staffers—Patti Clark and Edie Fleeman—will be working as the chief referee and chief scoring officer, respectively. The Match Director will be Joe Miller, with Brian Newsom working as the range engineer. In addition, Mary Furr will be the statistical director and her husband Clyde will serve as the chief range officer. There will be no shortage of talent on staff.
HIGH POWER RIFLE
The National High Power Rifle Across the Course Championships will be held at Winnequah Gun Club in Lodi, Wisconsin, June 1-7, 2025. Next, the National High Power Mid-Range Championships will be conducted at Oklahoma City Gun Club in Arcadia, Oklahoma, June 4-8, 2025, followed by the National High Power Long-Range Championships at Alliance Rifle Club in Malvern, Ohio, July 2-6, 2025.

Right now, the most information available is for the High Power Across the Course Nationals (XTC) at Winnequah Gun Club in Wisconsin.
Something to note: the Shotmarker Electronic Target system will be employed at the XTC Nationals. Winnequah recently upgraded this target system for use during the NRA’s premier High Power Rifle competition.
The 2025 NRA National High Power XTC Championship will kick off on Sunday, June 1, with the warm-up match, followed by day one of the XTC Championship aggregate on Monday, June 2. Day two of the XTC Championship aggregate will be on Tuesday, June 3, and the four-person team match will come after that on Wednesday, June 4. The fourth and fifth days of the XTC Championship aggregate will be on Thursday and Friday, June 5-6. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 6, and will begin approximately 90 minutes after cease fire is announced on the range. Finally, this year’s XTC Championship will close on Saturday, June 7, with the EIC Match.
