The 2024 NRA National Matches at Camp Atterbury began on Monday, July 22, with the First Shot ceremony. Indiana State Representative and NRA Board Member Craig Haggard had the honor of firing the ceremonial first shot. In addition, Haggard’s wife, Brooke, provided a stirring rendition of the National Anthem during the opening ceremony.

NRA Board Member Charlie Hiltunen III served as the emcee for the opening ceremony at Camp Atterbury. Here, he is shooting an NRA America’s Rifle Challenge stage held after the opening ceremony. Two-time Olympian Nick Mowrer (l.) and Shane Barnhart both set national records at the 2024 NRA National Smallbore Championships at Camp Atterbury. Mowrer topped 2024 NRA Smallbore Prone leaderboard with a score of 6395-550X, while Barnhart was the runner-up, one point behind Mowrer with 6394-525X. In addition, Mowrer brought his daughter to the match for some family time, where she earned herself a new title: Youngest Cannoneer.
There were 49 entries in this year’s NRA National Smallbore Rifle Conventional Prone Championship aggregate.

U.S. Army Capt. Sarah Beard won the NRA Lones Wigger Iron Man Trophy with a score of 8788-735X at Camp Atterbury on Sunday, August 4. In addition, she picked up the Smallbore Three-Position title after posting a score of 2397-205X. Bob C. Gill (l.) of Visalia, California, won the 2024 NRA National High Power OTC Championship with a score of 2370-104X. The runner-up was Jonathan O’Neal of Auburn, Georgia, with a score of 2358-95X.
The 2024 NRA National High Power Rifle OTC Championships were held at Camp Atterbury from August 6 to August 10.
This year’s NRA National High Power OTC champion, Bob Gill, also won the Crowell Trophy Match, Air Force Cup Match, Marine Gunner D.I. Boyd II Memorial Trophy Match, Clarke Trophy Match, Nevada Trophy Match, Centenary Trophy Aggregate and Erdman Trophy Match, plus the Match Rifle Championship.
