The National Rifle Association is a staunch supporter of the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation's (SSSF) 2017 National Team Championships, which were conducted earlier this month at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, OH.

As a Partner Sponsor of the 2017 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Founding Sponsor of the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP), the NRA supports the program's vision of introducing youths to the shooting sports and facilitating their continued involvement by providing, promoting, and perpetuating opportunities to safely and enjoyably participate and compete in a high-quality, team-based sport led by trained adult coaches focused on enhancing the personal growth and development of their athletes.

"The NRA is proud to support the SSSF in this incredible event that gives thousands of young Americans the opportunity to take part in the shooting sports," said Josh Powell, executive director of NRA General Operations. "The SSSF shares our vision of bringing more people into the shooting sports community in a safe, fun and enriching environment while also providing experiences that will foster teamwork and build an appreciation for sportsmanship."

Additionally, the NRA is sponsoring the "Last Competitor Standing" side matches, in which youths compete for a chance to win one of four $1,000 scholarships, as well as prizes for the top 10 athletes.

Through a variety of fun, team-based shooting tournaments in both the SCTP and SASP, the SSSF provides student-athletes from elementary school through college with a supportive environment where shooting sports serve as catalysts for teaching life lessons and skills that emphasize positive character traits and citizenship values.
