For versatility, not too many shooting venues can measure up to what the Richmond Rod and Gun Club has to offer. Located near the coastal shoreline in Richmond, CA, the club’s property boasts 100- and 200-yard rifle ranges, a 25-yard handgun range, five action ranges and six trap and skeet fields. The club’s 1,300 members hail from all parts of the region; many of them travel more than 50 miles to practice and take part in club events.

Richmond hosts numerous monthly matches in many shooting disciplines. High Power is one of the club’s more popular disciplines with regularly scheduled matches that are big crowd pleasers. Shooters flock to the action ranges on weekends for Cowboy, Long Gun, Rimfire, IDPA, USPSA and Steel Challenge events that take place throughout the year. Cowboy action is also a popular pastime, with some members camping out before and during these weekend festivities.

The club opens some of its facilities to the public several days a week and has ammunition and eye and ear protection available for purchase to those who need them. The club also welcomes local law enforcement to its ranges; every department within 40 miles utilizes Richmond’s facilities for practice, and may do so seven days a week.

Richmond hosts an active junior program for young shooters age 10 to 18. Held the second Saturday each month, juniors get instruction in both .22 and high power, depending upon the shooters’ age and skill level. The ammunition and rifles are supplied free of charge to both members and non-members. To learn more about the Richmond Rod and Gun Club visit www.richmondrodandgun.com.
