Bill Buesseler tells everyone he meets, “That we have the best staff ever assembled to teach junior shooting at NRA National Matches Junior Camp.”

His two daughters, Abby and Dana, picked up more than shooting skills at the camp.

“The smallbore camp has really left a lifelong impression with these two kids,” said Bill. “Not just the skills they pick up in shooting, but the friends they make—with social media it’s easy for them to keep in touch with someone from camp. They check in and see how they are doing—and then at the National Matches they get to visit with them again—it’s pretty fun for them!”

Abby and Dana had a busy second half of 2015, competing and touring college campuses. Immediately after the Junior Camp at Camp Perry last year, the young duo went to Bristol for smallbore nationals—their team winning the conventional 3-Position team event. In the fall, Abby and Dana went to Ole Miss, Nebraska, and TCU, touring each campus and range.

Bill added, “At every venue we talked with a coach or junior [competitor] from Camp Perry! Dad—don’t you remember—that’s so-and-so from Camp Perry. I’m taking them to these places to learn—but I think I’m the one doing the learning—and it’s mostly from them!”

The NRA National Matches Junior Smallbore Camp will be Aug. 7 through Aug. 12, 2016, at Camp Perry, OH.
